The New York City Marathon is just around the corner, November 2nd (the day after my birthday) to be exact. As they do every year, ASICS introduces two, limited edition sneakers for women, to commemorate the annual running event. The ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 NYC and ASICS GEL-Nimbus® 16 NYC Marathon Sneakers both feature my favorite color - pink, as well as an eye-catching paint splatter print, and NYC marathon printed on the sole. Both sneakers also boast a host of advanced technical innovation such as FluidRide, which provides runners with the ultimate combination of bounce back and cushioning properties with reduced weight and exceptional durability, gender-specific cushioning, an Impact Guidance System to enhance the foot's natural gait from heel strike to toe-off, Rearfoot and Forefoot GEL® Cushioning Systems, and a Trusstic System® integrates Guidance Line® construction to enhance your gait.

This year, elite female runners will be sporting the ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 NYC, ACICS's cult classic running shoe. This limited edition, New York City design boasts a new ComforDry X-40 sockliner, a comfortably secure upper, a new Exoskeletal heel construction that complements the premium FluidFit upper and Heel Clutching System, making it the lightest and most luxuriously stable sneaker perfect for running the New York City pavement.

The GEL-Nimbus® 16 NYC was made especially for the 2014 TCS New York City Marathon. It boasts an updated Marathon Windblocker JacketGuidance Trusstic System™ provides a silky smooth transition to the plush FluidRide™ midsole and combines with a truly customized fit of the sublime FluidFit™ upper. Ladies, you will zoom through those 26.2 miles whether you have underpronation to mild overpronation.

The GEL-Kayano 21 NYC retails for $160.00, the GEL-Nimbus® 16 NYC for $150.00, and both are available for purchase on asicsamerica.com, and at selected retailers throughout New York.

  1. What fun looking sneakers! Asics is a very good band I had a pair that lasted literally five years of heavy use!

  2. Same here. I've had the same pair of ASICS since the early 2000's and it looks great
