Puma Suede 49th Anniversary

On October 16, 1968, a champion used a classic as protest and platform.  It was on that date in 1968 at the Summer Games in Mexico City that American athlete & Olympian Tommie Smith broke the 200m World Record in Puma Spikes and while receiving his award, wore black socks and gloves and triumphantly and defiantly raised his fist in consciousness while holding a Puma Suede sneaker in the other.  Shoeography salutes the efforts and stand of Tommie Smith on this day to bring the consciousness of American equal rights and equality to the worldwide public stage.  The above campaign featuring Mr. Smith kicks off a year long 50th Anniversary celebration of the Puma Suede.  The drop releases November 4th and will be available at Puma.com.
